it was a dull wednesday night– oh, woeful, middle of the working week– so I decided to have myself a spontaneous mini-party, and dragged out the wee red cocktail recipe book that’s been collecting dust on a shelf for who knows how long. didn’t take long to stumble on something that yodeled to this juniper-berry-loving-girl’s heart, and jackpot on the name– who wouldn’t want a sweet little concoction called an alabama fizz? delightful!
cornish game hens
new year’s bennys
greatest respiratory flu soup ever
I’ve been living on this stuff for the last week– and I’m not even sick of it yet:
- chicken broth
- several gloves garlic, sliced
- onion, chopped
- curry powder
- red pepper flake
- salt
simmer for 30 min.
add:
- fresh parsley, chopped
- fresh cilantro, chopped
- fresh mint, chopped
- (I keep forgetting to buy basil, but that too)
- fresh lemon juice
puree. savor. breathe deep.
bananas and avocados give me an awful stomach ache
have done since I was in my teens. always seemed a bit inexplicable to me and didn’t help that it’s a somewhat inconsistent reaction. but sitting here this morning with my banana-laden breakfast cereal grinching in my belly, I did a little google search out of curiosity and turned up a trove of validation. relief at least in that I am not alone. huh.
