  1. OMFG. I cannot begin to tell you how happy it makes me that you know this book. the grey house in detroit with the creepy smelly old lady ghost in the back room? how freakin' scary awesome was that? I dreamed about finding that house. and the black dog that somehow shot its fur in bristles into that guy's hand? spooky!

  2. Me too! I also had another one with a skunk ghost story and a person who disappeared into thin air. I had to sleep with the light on a lot in the 4th grade.

  3. I must have missed this one, but I think I would've liked it…I was a big fan of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz. The illustrations are still absolutely terrifying to me.

  4. Mygod , I had this book too!!! That detroit house story was the one that stuck in my mind the most too! That was the one with the smell that lingered on the clothes, right? Gosh, it gave me goosebumps even remembering it!
It always amazed me how my parents (who thought everything paranormal was created by the devil to lead people away from the truth about God) allowed me to collect these kinds of books. I spent many an hour paranoidly awake after reading this one! :D

  5. The disappearing into thin air story really spooked me. I remember playing tennis against the basement wall and the ball disappeared behind some boxes. Of course I couldn't find it and assumed it was JUST GONE and my stomach just did a mad flip and I ran upstairs.
